Marcus graduated from the Royal Veterinary College, London in 1981. After working in Wales, Cheshire and Australia, he became the founding partner of Ark Veterinary Centre where he has been since 1989. He has overseen the growth of the Practice from a one vet Practice to four full time equivalents. His professional interest is reproduction. In 2000 he was President of the Essex Veterinary Society, he is a past player at Colchester Rugby Club and a keen supporter of Colchester United Football Club. He has four children; Freddie, Amelia, George and Henry, and a variety of pets including donkeys, dogs and a cat.
Peter qualified from the Royal Veterinary College, London in 1980. He has worked in Ayrshire, Australia and a neighbouring practice in Colchester before joining the Ark in 1993. In 2000 he became business partners with Marcus Harrington, contributing to the growth of the Practice. Professionally, Peter’s special interest is orthopaedics. He is a member of Stoke by Nayland Golf Club and Chairman of the Board of Governors of Stoke by Nayland Primary School. His children are Emily and William, and has a cat called Biscuit.
Julie qualified from the Royal (Dick) Veterinary School in Edinburgh in 1993. She has previously worked in Lincolnshire and Australia before joining the Ark in 1999. Julie’s main professional interest is Ultrasound scanning.
Kate joined our team in 2007 and qualified in 1995 from University of Glasgow. She works mainly at the weekends and to cover the other vets holidays. Her main areas of interest are pain management and acupuncture. Kate delivered one of her dogs, Ronnie, by caesarean here at the Ark!.
Lucy qualified from The University of Cambridge Veterinary School in 2009 and joined the team in 2010. You will mainly see her working at the weekends.
Sharon qualified from Cambridge University in 1999. She works for us part time to allow her to have time to pursue charity work abroad.
Laura joined us in 1998 as a Trainee Veterinary Nurse and qualified from Writtle College as a Veterinary Nurse in 2001. She is now our acting Head Nurse
Sue qualified in 1999 and has worked here ever since. She now works part-time, leaving time to look after her two young boys.
Sarah is a Veterinary Nurse Assistant and has been with us since 2001. She runs our fantastic Puppy Parties.
Steph is a Veterinary Nurse Assistant and joined Ark Vets in Colchester in 2010. She has an interest in rabbit nutrition and husbandry.
Amelia has been with us since 2014 and is now our student Veterinary Nurse, studying one day a week at Writtle College.
Vicki is our Veterinary Healthcare Assistant and joined us at Ark Vets in Colchester in 2010.
Monday to Friday: 8am to 6.30pm
Saturdays: 8.30am to 12 noon
Sundays: 9am to 11am
Bank Holidays: 9am to 11am
Sam is our Head Receptionist, she ensures the smooth running of reception. She joined our team in 2003.
Lisa is our Deputy Head Receptionist and joined our team in 2009. She supports Sam in running reception.
Sarah joined the Ark in 2014 and is in charge of the insurance claims.
Linda is our longest serving member of the recption team - she joined us in 1998.
Pauline joined us in 2000 so she has plenty of experience working here on reception.
Carol joined us in 2016 and has lots of experience on reception having worked in other veterinary practices.
Natalie is our newest member of staff and is full of enthusiasm.
Lynne is our Practice Manager and joined us in 2014. She looks after the accounts and runs the office.
